- Position the 2 gate posts with adequate space between to fit the gate.
Also, allow approximately 80mm for the hinges and fasteners.
- Mark the top of the post with a line that continues the line of the fence.
Mark an angle of 50 degrees from it, as shown in diagram 1.
From this line run a sprit level or vertical plumb line down the post.

- Position the gate, in the space between the 2 gate posts, at the desired height.

- Mark positions for where the bottom locking gudgeon will be inserted, using the vertical line as a guide.
Drill the hole using a drill bit fractionally larger than the hinge diameter.

- Insert the hinge after threading a nut all the way to the `gate end' of the threaded rod, followed by a washer.
Once the rod is through the post add another washer followed by the second nut.

- Put the plastic cone onto the gudgeon's vertical pin, then sit the gate on top of the cone.
The cone creates a secure fit and allows for quiet, wear-free gate open and closure.

- Mark the position of the two top strap holes, again use the vertical line as a guide.
As a guide the top strap must be positioned above the internal support wire.
Lift gate off bottom gudgeon and drill the holes for the top strap.

- Re-position the gate on the bottom gudgeon to enable the top strap to be inserted over the gate.

- To level the gate, adjust the top and bottom gudgeon inwards or outwards using the adjusting nuts.

- The rectangular backing plate can then be `tapped' into the grooves of the top strap.
This will ensure the gate fits securely in the strap.

- Finally, to install the fastening latch, predrill undersized pilot holes at an angle of approximately 40 degrees in relation to the gate. Insert drive staple into end link of fastener chain and hammer staple into gate post.
Locate the second staple allowing for the fastening chain to have some 'slack' when the gate is in the closed position. The fastener hook attaches into this second staple to allow gate to be closed.
